A Cowman’s Comment on Art

The Staff and Trustees of the Nita Stewart Haley Memorial Library and the Haley Family excited for all our friends and for the patrons of the Library. The Trustees recently decided to reprint the essay written by J. Evetts Haley back in 1974, two years before the opening of the library’s present headquarters. At the time, it was written at the request of Frances and Evetts Haley, Jr.

This essay shows the Library’s deep commitment to the patronage of Western and American art both through the Annual spring exhibition and sale and our program of acquisitions. The reprinting of this original essay is for the pleasure of art lovers and students of history. Its message wholesome, poignant and timeless. We hope it leads to more “Just Pictures on the Wall”.
