James E. White, Jr., born in 1920, married Jane Brite Dunkle in 1946. Her grandfather was pioneer Presidio County rancher Lucas Brite. The newlyweds soon began operating some of the old Brite ranchlands. A typical West Texas cowman, his greatest fear is drought. “Everyday that goes by puts us one day closer to rain,” he said.
