Alf Means

2000

I am accepting this award not just for myself, but for my family who taught me and brought me up in the cow business. All the discipline, taking good care of the cattle and the land.

Alf Means, age 80 during the awards ceremony, spent his entire life on the Y6 Ranch, about 4 miles from Valentine, Texas. While his son now manages the ranch, Mr. Means and his wife live about 100 yards from the original ranch headquarters.
